MP backs biodiesel tax break project

Liberal Democrat MP Andrew George is backing a to keep tax breaks for companies who produce biodiesel.

Producers converting cooking oil into biodiesel currently gain from a 20p differential however that is because of end next April.

The St Ives MP, who leads the Lib Dem Environment Team, has been fulfilling with the UK sustainable biodiesel alliance.

Mr George said "a variety of small companies in Cornwall currently generate income from utilized cooking oil".

He included: "In order to be able to get this type of industry going it does require just a bit of lift which comes in the type of tax foregone."

Biodiesel is a mix of standard diesel, rapeseed and veggie oils.
